Ambassador Carla Jazzar
Ambassador Carla Jazzar is a career diplomat with more than three decades of service in both bilateral and multilateral diplomacy. She holds a Master’s degree in Political and Administrative Sciences from Saint Joseph University in Beirut (USJ), and a second Master’s degree in Diplomatic Studies and International Law from the Diplomatic Academy of London. Her career began in London, where she served as First Secretary and Consul.
She was then posted to Paris as Deputy Permanent Representative of Lebanon to UNESCO and the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), later assuming the duties of Acting Permanent Representative to both organizations. In 2004, Ambassador Jazzar was assigned to Washington, D.C., where she served for more than twelve years as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Lebanon. From 2016 to 2017, she took on the role of Chargé d’Affaires, leading the mission through one of the most turbulent and politically sensitive periods in Lebanon’s recent history.
Upon returning to Beirut, she headed the Cipher Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Between 2020 and 2024, she served in Brasília as Ambassador/Chargé d’Affaires, strengthening Lebanon’s relations with Brazil and engaging with the world’s largest Lebanese diaspora.
She is fluent in Arabic, French, English, and Portuguese, and is currently learning Italian
